STORY 96

I was asked to sign an NDA by a province as one of the Directors of the company that had been awarded the contract to build a ship. There was no negotiating : we were simply told we MUST sign, take it or leave it. When we asked if signing an NDA was "normal" we were told we were the first such case. We were given no time to consider or research the matter. It was the first step in a process that poisoned the project. What could have been a tremendous project for the community became an "Us" vs. "Them" battle, wasting huge amounts of money and squandering a great opportunity - which is why we were forced to sign : to avoid us spilling the beans on horrid government mis-management !  A dream project that turned into a nightmare. I listened to your CBC interview : WELL SAID ! You spoke very well and made extremely convincing arguments. I totally support your mission : NDA's are reprehensible in any context.
